Darryl Donlin, LCSW
How my life changed and came full circle.
I put a great deal of effort into trying to be “successful.” I worked hard,
sacrificed, and applied everything I learned from my education where I earned a Bachelor’s
Degree and then two Masters's Degrees. It was all about achieving my dreams. For a while at least.
Career-wise, I went from working
with families in crisis fresh out of graduate school to
eventually holding executive positions at well-known healthcare companies after
earning an MBA. Yet, when I achieved my goals (education, career, awards,
promotions, etc.), I was somehow disappointed. I did not feel satisfied.
Something was missing.
I began questioning my abilities and core values. “What was wrong
with me?” I often wondered. Fortunately, I sought the help of experts. I discovered something important: The correct
question was, "What empty place in my heart was I looking to fill with the desire for success?"
Discovering that missing puzzle piece was not always easy but it did pay off in big ways: I became a better husband, father, and therapist. I also discovered my core
character, the importance of my faith; and my purpose in life. So, I did a 180-degree turn in my career and went back to my original passion of helping people improve their lives.
Life is tough and can even be
tragic when it does not go as we planned or as we deserve. You do not need to
go down this path alone. I would be honored to walk with you, hear your
story, and get you back on track.
